Erik van Rooyen was on his solution to simply making the reduce on the PGA Championship. With simply 5 holes left in his second spherical, van Rooyen sat at +2, three strokes contained in the reduce line.
But then got here the dreaded closing 5 holes that some have labeled the hardest ending stretch in golf.
Van Rooyen adopted a bogey at 14 with a double at 15. Another bogey at 16 put him at +6, one shot out of the reduce line. Then he put his tee shot on the par-3 seventeenth into the water and, properly, he wasn’t very pleased.
If you are conserving rating, that is a tee marker, a membership head and a second-round shattered straight away.
Van Rooyen would go on to triple the seventeenth, pushing him all the best way as much as +9 and out of the event earlier than the weekend.
